CALGARY, ALBERTA
SHANA, an eight-year-old Newfoundland dog, saved her owner, Dorothy Laurin, from drowning when she slipped into a torrent of freezing rain water outside her home during a freak storm in Calgary. Despite a fear of water, Shana swam to her owner’s rescue with no hesitation and directed her to safety.
At Purina, we honour the powerful connection between pets and people through the Purina Animal Hall of Fame. This program, the longest-running of its kind in Canada, recognizes animals whose acts of bravery and loyalty have changed lives.
Each inductee into the Hall of Fame represents courage, resilience, and unconditional love. Their legacies continue to inspire Canadians to value and celebrate the animals in their lives.
We encourage you to learn more about these remarkable animals and consider nominating a pet hero of your own. Whether it’s a dog who protected a family or a cat who provided emotional support, every story matters.
To explore past inductees or to submit a nomination for the upcoming year, please click here and complete our form. Help us continue to shine a light on the animals who make our world a better place.
